Nominations are now open for several positions on the IAP2 USA Board of Directors. Have you considered submitting? If you haven’t, you definitely should. Why? Because you’ll have the opportunity to:
- work with your peers to advance the practice
- make a real impact on P2 practice in the US
- get involved in issues you care about
- learn what is happening with P2 nationally and internationally
- and perhaps best of all, work with some of the best, brightest, and most fun people in the field.
What does it entail, you might ask? Since IAP2 USA is primarily run by volunteers, the Board of Directors is a working board. Depending on where you choose to focus your energy, the average commitment is about 10-15 hours per month. We are absolutely looking for people who are ready and willing to dedicate some energy to advancing the practice. In particular, the following skills and/or experience would supplement the skills of the existing Directors:
- Financial management
- Strategic marketing
- Collaboration and Outreach
- Governance and administration
If you have a real passion for the practice, are looking to engage with national leaders in the field, and have a little time and energy to give, please consider nominating yourself for the IAP2 USA Board of Directors. Nominations are due by 4:00 pm Pacific, Friday, November 3, 2017. Check out the Nominations Information Package and the fill out the Board Nominations Form.
Being a member of the IAP2 USA Board of Directors has benefited me and my practice in so many ways – from having the opportunity to engage with leaders in the field from around the world to working on new initiatives; from working through tough issues to developing leadership skills, I can truly say that I have grown a great deal in my two terms here. I can tell you it has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Learning from my fellow board members and being able to communicate with the membership at large has really helped me understand the reach of our field and the impact of our ability to ensure good P2 is happening wherever we are. I’ve made lifelong friends, learned new skills, worked with my peers to make decisions and have seen those decisions affect real change.
Over the course of my two terms on the board our membership has more than doubled. Now is a great time to get engaged at the national level. We need your help to continue the great work IAP2 USA is doing. Nominate yourself today!
